It is important to remind our leaders that public funds are not exclusively for their use alone: public funds are the fruit of the labor and taxes of each and every one of us. Part of the democratic contract requires that public funding sustain our associations, especially those that express, through their mandates and their actions, values that the electorate defends: respect for human dignity, international law, and political and social rights for all peoples and nations. It is in defense of these values that Alternatives should exist, and continue to exist.

In the current context where Alternatives is witnessing the menace of severe cuts to its funding, it is important that the Alternatives family be a big as possible. Being a member means clearly signaling the relevance of the options that we propose!

Being an Alternatives member also means engaging in the vast alterglobalist movement. It means replying to “end of the world” narratives and the hegemony of capitalist markets, since the earth and its peoples are not merchandise.

Together, we say more loudly than ever to the global crises: “Another world is necessary!”
